Rescue Ministries Inc. was founded over 22 years ago in the parks of Brooklyn, N.Y. by Rev. Yolanda Valentin-Aviles. It has grown and developed into several programs, such as soup kitchens and food pantries. We have partnerships with Senior Centers that offer Flu shots, nutrition workshops, blood pressure pre-screening, HIV pre-screening, and SNAP pre-screening. We also offer off-site referrals. We are located in the heart of Port Richmond on Staten Island, in New York. All of our programs are designed to serve the needs of the community at large in diverse and meaningful ways.
Each month we assist over 1,500 families with groceries and serve over 400 plates of hot food. Each year we receive and distribute tons of food, clothing, Toys 4 Tots, and other necessities from our faith-based emergency feeding and nutrition programs. The success of these programs are largely due to our partnership of generous donors and our dedicated volunteers.
We meet practical needs by feeding hungry bodies and we meet spiritual needs by feeding hungry souls. We are dedicated to serving physical and spiritual needs. The ministry of Christ is our example. Jesus provided for people's practical needs on the way to satisfying their spiritual needs.
These programs are implemented by the Community Outreach Department of Rescue Ministries Church under the direction of Rev. Placida Martinez. The pantry and soup kitchen operate onsite every Tuesday 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM.
"For I was in need of food, and you gave it to me: I was in need of drink, and you gave it to me: I was wandering, and you took me in; I had no clothing, and you gave it to me: when I was ill, or in prison, you came to me."
